Here we are at the end of another successful season. Congratulations Marlins! Here is some information about the last week of practice, the last swim meet, and the team party.

The last practice of the season will be this Thursday, July 30th. Due to pool closure there will be no practice on Friday!

Saturday, July 1st will be the final swim meet. The meet will be at Hidden Springs pool, see the coaches for directions. Warm-ups start at 7:30am. Please plan on bringing blankets and chairs and sitting together as a team on the lawn. There will be no late additions or changes at the meet. Swimmers were signed up for this meet well in advance and no changes can now be made. Also, there is a $5 charge for this swim meet. Please turn in the $5 to coaches by this Thursday at practice.

The end of season party will be on Saturday, July 1st at 7:00pm, after the final swim meet. It will be an ice cream social at DeMeyer Park with an awards ceremony. All swimmers and their families are welcome to come celebrate a great season! We hope to see everyone there!

Caldwell Meet

Time for another swim meet! This meet will be held at the Caldwell YMCA, 3720 S. Indiana Ave. Caldwell, ID 83605, with warm-ups at 9:00am and the meet starting at 10:00am. Deck space is limited at the Caldwell Y so plan on sitting on the lawn outside. Please try to sit as a team!
Also, unless swimmers have told the coaches, they will be swimming the same events they are swimming at this meet at the Championship Meet on August 1st. Swimmers need to let the coaches know this week if they want to swim different events. More information about the Championship Meet and Team Party will come soon.

Emmett Swim Meet, June 27th

Here are the directions to Emmett's pool, starting at the West YMCA. Emmett is an outdoor pool so bring lots of sunscreen and water! Remember, warm-ups are from 7:30 to 8:30am and the meet starts at 8:30am. See you all there!

Tie-Dye

Tie-Dye Instructions

1. Remove rubber bands with gloves
2. After dye has set, hand rinse in cold water until water runs clear.
3. Machine wash in warm water
4. Shirt will be ready to wear after washing but it’s recommended to wash shirt separately for the next few washings to prevent the dye from bleeding onto other clothes

Practice on Thursday, June 18th will be a team bonding and shirt decorating day! We will meet at the normal practice time in the bleachers before heading outside to start the fun. (Night practice will not be tie-dying.) Swimmers should wear clothes they don’t mind getting dirty. Shirts and tie-dye materials will be provided. Coaches will tie-dye any absent swimmers shirts so everyone will receive a fun tie-dye shirt! Any parents interested in volunteering during tie-dye are more than welcome to stay during practice! New Coach!!!

The Blue Marlins are happy to announce the coming back of one of last years favorite coaches, Erin Wantulok to the 2009 coaching staff. Not only has Erin been a coach for Y-City and the Blue Marlins in the past, she has also been a long time swimmer for Y-City as well competing for more than 12 years! Along with her very successful Y-City career, Erin was also a terrific high school swimmer for Centennial High School for the past four years being a state qualifier and a letterman all four years she competed. From all of us, we hope that you can find time to welcome Erin back to the team and show her how much we are happy to have her back onto our wonderful coaching staff that works so hard to make this team what it is.

Tie-die changes

****** Important new information for all blue marlin swimmers and parents******

Because of a shipping error we will not be able to tie-dye shirts on Friday, June 12th. Once the shirts come in we will be able to give a new date and time for the tie dying and it should be before the first meet on the 20th.

Welcome to the 2009 summer swim team season! Here are some announcements and reminders for the coming weeks:

Practice on Friday, June 12th will be a team bonding and shirt decorating day. This year we are tye-dying the team shirts. We will meet at the normal practice time in the bleachers before heading outside to start the fun. Swimmers should wear clothes they don’t mind getting dirty and bring their suits in case tye-dying does not take the full practice time.

Parent volunteers are always needed. Our swim team and swim meets could not happen without the wonderful parent volunteers! If you’re interested in volunteering, please contact one of the coaches or sign up on one of the posters by the pool during practices. Thank you in advance to all of the volunteers! We appreciate your help!

Swim meets are almost here! Here is the meet schedule as a reminder. If swimmers are unable to attend a meet please let the coaches know in advance! Remember, swimmers must participate in relays at the beginning and end of the meet!
